Electrical Field Technician
Job Description An employer is looking for an Electrical Field Technician to join a Utility customer in Southern California. This mid-level role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in electrical systems, particularly in low voltage troubleshooting and circuit analysis. While prior oil and gas experience is not required, familiarity with hazardous area classifications and compliance with NEC and NFPA 70 standards is essential. There will be an Electrical contractor on all the sites, but will be nice if someone feels comfortable being able to troubleshoot on your own. We are looking for someone who is also open to learning PLC Programming and how to design and configure HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems for operator interaction. This role is paying between $50-68/hour. - Perform field installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low voltage electrical systems. - Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Diagnose and repair electrical issues in field equipment and control systems. - Ensure all work complies with NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 standards. - Understand and apply area classification principles in hazardous environments. - Collaborate with engineers and other field personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations. - Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including service reports and inspection logs. - Travel to various field sites in southern California as required We are a company committed to creating inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Skills and Requirements - 5+ years of hands-on electrical experience, preferably in field service roles. - Proficient in low voltage troubleshooting and electrical circuit analysis. - Solid understanding of NEC / NFPA 70 and hazardous area classifications (Class I, Division 1 & 2). - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work independently and in team settings. - Valid drivers license and ability to travel to field locations. - Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control logic diagrams. - Willingness to travel to field sites for commissioning and support (A large portion of Southern California) - Certifications in electrical safety or hazardous area work (e.g., CompEx, ISA, etc.). - Experience with instrumentation or control systems is a plus. - Familiarity with oil and gas field environments is beneficial but not required. null We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
