**About E&ES**
Caterpillar’s **Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division** will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration into existing and future product platforms.
**About the Role:**
The **Electrical Engineering Specialist - Battery System HV Architect** will be accountable for translating system requirements into appropriate high voltage electrical system designs for battery systems and hybrid power sources as well as low voltage power electronics architecture strategies. It will also have accountability for electrical system auditing, troubleshooting, validation, and issue resolution to ensure alignment to safety and regulatory standards and reliability expectations. Position will be actively involved in new technology development, future concept platforms, and have the ability to influence the next generation of Caterpillar products and services.
**What you will do:**
+ Analyzing HV battery systems for proper protections and arc flash mitigation
+ Creating electrical sub-system diagrams for battery integration
+ Sizing high voltage cables and connectors for battery systems and the string disconnect module
+ Ensuring proper overload protection device selection and coordination
+ Driving definition, validation, and proper integration of high voltage battery components and sensors within the battery system
+ Driving requirements definition in support of electrical safety standards (IEEE, NFPA, IEC, ISO, UN)
+ Reviewing cable and harness routings for battery systems
+ Assisting ePowertrain technical leads in conveying the software requirements and component electronic information for HV diagnostics, events, and warnings to the various controls teams and the Cat Electronics integration teams as needed
+ On-site build support
+ Development of HV battery system design guides, leveraging best practices and lessons from prior machine projects
+ Troubleshooting and analysis of field data
+ Contributing to service literature creation
**Responsibilities also include:**
+ Educating process partners on the hazards and best practices for working on high voltage battery systems
+ Assisting with establishing and documenting high voltage battery system integration best practices and design guides
+ Working with software teams to create machine software libraries and requirements
**What you have:**
**Degree Requirement** : Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering
**Technical Excellence:** Experience with electric machine components such as batteries, motors, power electronics, fuel cells, etc. as well as machine electrical system integration
Level Extensive Experience:
•Electrical schematic creation and harnessing experience
•Demonstrated troubleshooting skills on prototype machines
•Experience driving common solutions across multiple platforms to reduce engineering effort
•Working Knowledge of CAN Communications and Datalink Network Diagrams
•Knowledge and Experience with FMEAs
•Experience with machines utilizing greater than 60V

**Product Testing:** Experience with product testing; demonstrated understanding of approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Coordinates execution of test plans, including resources, strategy, schedules, processes and tools.
• Collaborates with design team to ensure testing considerations are incorporated into system design.
• Recommends tools and techniques for automating, simplifying and enhancing product testing.
• Compares and contrasts alternative testing methodologies and tools.
• Matches testing methodology and tools to product being tested; develops test scenarios and scripts.
• Estimates time, effort and resources required for thorough testing.

**Summary Pay Range:**
$126,000.00 - $189,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
