Responsibilities

The Mayo Clinic Special Purpose Processor Development Group (SPPDG) is seeking electrical engineering students interested in a co-op position to gain familiarity with various research and development (R&D) activities. Anticipated timeline of the co-op position is Spring/Summer 2026 and Summer/Fall 2026. 

SPPDG is a research group within Mayo Clinic, comprised of electronics hardware, software, and firmware engineers supporting a variety of design, analysis, and testing efforts. As part of this R&D team, the candidate would perform fundamental electronics engineering functions by applying technical knowledge and experience to perform basic engineering tasks using state-of-the-art computerized tools.  The candidate would work under close supervision, with plans and completed assignments reviewed by Supervisor or senior technical group members.



Qualifications

Applicants must be enrolled in an electrical engineering program from an accredited college or university and have completed a minimum of four semesters (or equivalent) of instruction towards their degree. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Must be U.S. Citizen. 

Successful candidates will have an interest in electronics hardware engineering, with coursework and/or project experience in areas such as basic electrical DC and AC circuits, electromagnetic fields and transmission line theory, printed circuit board design, electronics laboratory testing, electronics power delivery, and circuit simulation and modeling.
