Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. The role involves both design and programming, focusing on the development and troubleshooting of PLC/HMI software and electrical control interfaces based on customer specifications. The ideal candidate will work closely with electricians, panel builders, and external contractors to ensure the successful assembly and operation of electrical control panels and conveyor systems.
Responsibilities
+ Design control interfaces using customer-provided machine control electrical schematics.
+ Develop and test PLC/HMI software.
+ Troubleshoot and update existing code, with a focus on troubleshooting.
+ Program Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
+ Collaborate with electricians and panel builders, offering assistance and guidance during assembly.
+ Serve as the point of contact for outside electrical contractors.
+ Work with the purchasing department to source electrical components.
+ Follow instructions and adhere to established procedures.
+ Conduct quality control testing of electrical control panels and conveyor systems to verify proper operation.
+ Responsible for panel layout and schematic drawings, including print updates and development of standardized prints.
+ Perform electrical design using AutoCAD.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in Electrical Design and PLC programming.
+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering is highly preferred.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related role.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD drafting, including schematics and panel/enclosure layout.
+ Working knowledge of NFPA 70 and 79, and OSHA 29CFR part 1910.
+ Experience in PLC/HMI development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with ladder logic and text-based programming is a plus.
+ Basic familiarity with Arduino is advantageous.
+ Proficiency in C or C++ is a bonus, as Arduino is based on these languages.
Work Environment
The position requires working in an environment where close collaboration with electricians and panel builders is necessary. You will engage in both office-based design work using AutoCAD and hands-on involvement during the assembly process. The role demands adherence to safety standards and procedures, ensuring compliance with NFPA and OSHA regulations.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
