Job Description
This is a full-time contract position for an Electrical Engineer, supporting the Transmission Line Engineering organization. The role focuses on the development of designs, drawings, standards, and specifications related to electrical effects in transmission line design and maintenance, as well as conducting field investigations and inspections.
ResponsibilitiesAct as an electrical effects technical resource and point-of-contact for reviewing Right of Way permit applications and Land Use Requests.Perform clearance and electrical effects analysis to evaluate the impact of proposed Right of Way activity.Provide technical input and recommendations on planned and active expansion and sustain projects, including electrical effects, corona, audible noise, lightning protection, grounding, corrosion, switch maintenance and operation, obstruction marking and lighting.Present technical information related to electrical effects engineering at meetings with the public, stakeholders, project teams, and management.Support Transmission Line Maintenance field service engineers by researching and recommending solutions for field issues related to electrical effects, corona, audible noise, and more.Produce and review engineering design drawings, schematics, and specifications, identifying and resolving discrepancies.Research problems, compile technical data, and recommend solutions or prepare designs to assist other engineers.Review and update standards, specifications, work standards, and guides.Manage schedules, timelines, and milestones, providing timely status updates.Follow safety practices outlined in the BPA Accident Prevention Manual and maintain compliance with information security and governance standards.Essential SkillsBachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited college/university.Minimum of 3 months of experience in electrical engineering design or analysis, including college or voluntary projects.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with PLS-CADD, Bentley ProjectWise, and MS SharePoint is preferred.Work Environment
The role is based in Vancouver, WA, within a slower-paced office environment with somewhat flexible hours. The attire is business casual, and the position involves mostly independent work with occasional field trips. The department fosters a tight-knit, collaborative atmosphere. The work is deadline-driven, and the role involves waiting for approvals and paperwork at times.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00/hr.
