Northrop Grumman is seeking a technical leader to act as our Electrical Systems and Command & Data Handling (C&DH) Subsystem Engineer, providing CogE support on Layer 3 / Layer 2 Switch Networking setup and maintenance. Candidate should have a strong Electrical Engineering background and the ability to support a broad range of Electrical Engineering activities, ranging from box-level design support to system-level architecting. This customer-facing position supports the program / project staff in the analysis, investigation and resolution of engineering electrical systems problems, subsystem requirements development, and schedule management as required by the program. You will collaborate with team members from multiple subsystems and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to achieve a system that meets requirements. This can include Program Management (PM), Chief Engineer (CE), Lead Systems Engineer (LSE), Electronic Power Systems (EPS), Integration and Test (I&T), early career individuals and customer counterparts at various levels. At a higher level, we will expect you to define, articulate, and flow down customer requirements to other team members and staff regarding the systems or hardware you support. This position can be located in McLean, VA or Gilbert, AZ.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides technical coordination of vendors and suppliers. Review suppliers “as-planned”, “as-designed”, and “as-built” documentation (e.g. interface control document, derating analysis, worst case analysis, qualification test plan and procedure, acceptance test plan and procedure, test report).Performs requirement analysis and decomposition of customer requirements into hardware and software specifications and establish subsystem or system-level electrical verification method and plans.Performs analyses to evaluate all levels of the system to ensure a cohesive electrical-system solution throughout the development lifecycle (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal).Perform electrical interface compatibility verifications and verify electrical connectivity implementation (e.g. verify electrical harness implementation, safety-critical circuit segregation, support peer-reviews).Oversees the technical planning, design integration, product integration, verification, and validation efforts for the CDH electrical-system elements throughout the development lifecycle. Influences the electrical-system design to facilitate electrical testing at the component, subsystem, and flight-vehicle levels, with the aim to enable automated testing where applicable.Identify Electrical Systems and C&DH risks, develop risk mitigation plans for selected risks, and implement mitigations.Contribute to assembly integration and test activities (e.g. electrical test requirements development, anomaly investigations/resolutions).Interfacing with design and manufacturing groups to monitor component production process/progress to include Integration & Test (I&T) and relaying that status to management along with potential solutions to stay on target.Provide technical oversight to ensure the C&DH electrical system is compliant and verifiable at the avionics digital and analog telemetry level.Candidate must be comfortable with managing program execution from a Technical perspective, meeting deadlines, working on multiple projects concurrently, and working with various engineering disciplines and internal/external customers as required.Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a STEM area (preferably Electrical Engineering) and 9 years of relevant work experience, 7 years of relevant work experience with a Master’s degree, or 4 years of relevant work experience with a PhD.Technical experience with IP Layer 3 / Layer 2 Networking setup and maintenanceExperience with spaceflight hardwareExperience in project management with software deliverablesExperience with creating and tracking schedules using project tracking tools such as Microsoft projectExperience interfacing with external suppliersStrong verbal and written communications skills, proactive, customer oriented, and ability to identify prioritiesPreferred Qualifications:
Experience leading teams of engineers managing resources and schedulesExperience with requirements tracking tool such as DOORS or CAMEODigital design experienceStrong verbal and written communications skills, proactive, customer oriented, and ability to identify prioritiesExperience with EVMS and creating variance reportsPrimary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
