Job Description

The Electrical Designer will be part of the Global SusTaining Engineering Team (STET) org structure will provide technical support to ensure product life cycle of medical devices by incremental innovation, standard product maintenance, engineering, and supply chain solutions by resolving issues such as End of life, Assurance of Supply, Supplier change request, Production, and design-related field issues.
 

The Electrical Designer will also be responsible for Electronics/ Electrical component obsolescence management, Reactive and Proactive obsolescence management, Redesign for cost reduction and improved reliability, Redesign for obsolescence mitigation, Failure, and root cause analysis, Alternate component sourcing, limited software release support, and regulatory updates are common sustaining activities.


Your role:

Drive product development activities including development of design concepts, prototype testing, engineering specs, and module/system level tests.Drive continuous improvement projects related to design implementation, manufacturing process, product quality and reliabilityWork with Systems Engineering, Electrical and other cross functional team members to design electronic enclosures to meet system level functional and architectural requirements.Assess & create a Product Change Notification document for each change request/product defect.Root cause investigation of electrical issues that involves analysis of Schematics, board layout, assembly drawing and Bill of Materials.Assist in evaluating alternate components that are going in EOL, and lead design and qualification of alternate components at the system level.Create Module Requirements/Char Specification document for electrical modulesDevelop Test protocols which includes Module Verification plan & reportExecute module verification testing and log resultsPerform release activities includes Design Verification Review, Design History File (DHF) update and write Memo’s as needed



You're the right fit if you have:

Masters/ Bachelors in Electrical / Electronics Engineering from an accredited university10 years minimum of experience in product design and development.

Skills

Extensive experience in Analog and Digital circuit design experience preferably from Medtech industryHands - on experience in component obsolescence management primarily in medical devices, consumer electronics, Automotive OEMsExpertise in design and deployment of test fixtures for module and system verificationExperience with medical device standards (IEC 60601, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820)Cross-functional collaborationRoot cause analysis and failure investigation by using Methodical, effective troubleshooting/problem solving skills.

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.
