Electrical Design Engineer II

Position Summary:
The Electrical Design Engineer provides expert technical leadership in designing, developing, and constructing electrical circuits and control systems for specialized machinery and equipment. Responsible for supporting product design, testing, certification, and troubleshooting, they coordinate activities related to technical development, scheduling, and problem resolution to ensure excellence in engineering deliverables and customer satisfaction.

Work You’ll Do:

Demonstrate experience working with variable frequency drives, servo drives, sensors, PLC programming, and HMI programming in an industrial environment.Support process instrumentation design, integration, and troubleshooting within manufacturing applications.Employ troubleshooting methodologies to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to resolve hardware or software issues.Wire machines, debug control systems, and assist with system and control panel builds.Support testing, documentation, and system proposal activities, ensuring designs meet technical requirements.Design, develop, layout, test, and troubleshoot electrical circuits and control systems, using complex electrical design techniques.Use AutoCAD Electrical to construct, modify, and improve electrical schematics and control systems.Read, interpret, and extract essential information from engineering drawings, schematics, sketches, and 3D solid models.Develop control panels, including power distribution at 480VAC, I/O devices, sensors, pneumatics, and industrial actuators.Identify and order electrical components and hardware needed for projects.Create detailed Job Instruction Sheets, assembly drawings, parts lists, and wiring diagrams to support manufacturing and assembly processes.Preview designs for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company and customer requirements; ensure adherence to UL, NEC, CE, and NFPA standards.Provide technical direction and support to Assemblers and Technicians, advising on wiring, assembly, and troubleshooting.Develop and deploy test jigs to enhance productivity.Deliver expert technical guidance and advice to stakeholders, ensuring functionality aligns with manufacturing and customer expectations.Constantly review current methods, suggest improvements, and support internal and external customer needs.

Team:
You will support the Mold Masters R&D – Controllers & E-Multi Systems team, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and technical support personnel. Your expertise will help drive innovative control solutions, ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into new product developments, and support ongoing improvements in control system performance. Your role is critical in enabling the team to deliver high-quality control systems that meet customer requirements and support manufacturing excellence.

Basic Qualifications:

University Degree in Electrical Engineering (or comparable technical education).Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in control systems design and troubleshooting.Extensive hands-on experience with variable frequency drives, servo drives, sensors, PLC and HMI programming.Proven ability to interpret and develop engineering drawings, schematics, and 3D models.Knowledge of UL, NEC, CE, and NFPA standards and electrical safety requirements.Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and control system software.Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with experimental testing and data analysis for control system optimization.Knowledge of ISO standards and best practices in electrical control design and safety.Ability to lead or contribute to R&D activities, developing innovative control solutions.Strong mathematical skills, including geometry and trigonometry, for system calculations.Experience supporting manufacturing, installation, and operation testing of electrical systems.
