Overview:
• Lead the design and development of electrical systems for battery electrical system design.
• Develop comprehensive schematics and layouts for low-voltage (LV) electrical systems.
• Design and develop electrical architecture for lithium-ion battery packs including schematics and layouts.
• Define and specify electrical components such as fuses, contactors, relays, connectors, and wiring.
• Work closely with mechanical engineers to ensure proper integration and packaging of electrical components.
• Collaborate with the BMS team to define sensing, communication, and control interfaces.
• Design protection circuits for overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, short circuit, and thermal events.
• Perform simulations and analysis (voltage drops, thermal effects, EMI/EMC) to validate design performance.
• Create wiring harness designs, connector pinouts, and integration drawings.
• Generate detailed documentation including BOMs, assembly drawings, and test plans.
• Support prototyping, testing, debugging, and failure analysis of battery systems.
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., UL, IEC, ISO 26262, UN 38.3).
• Act as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve conflicts and ensure alignment on project deliverables.
• Communicate project updates, risks, and outcomes to senior management and other stakeholders.
• Represent the team in internal and external meetings, ensuring effective information flow.
• Addressing the customer queries and handling customer feedback.
• Set an example to junior engineers in the team & coach them as required.
• Onsite support during proto-typing and testing.
• Reporting to the Business Manager\\Team Manager in a timely and efficient manner.
• Complying to company policies and follow company values and business code of practice.
Work Experience
Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical system design and development, with significant exposure to battery pack/EV electrical system design.Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Knowledge Requirement:
• Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC/UL/CSA) relevant to battery pack, BESS and EV Infrastructure.
• Experience with wire harness design and electrical component selection.
• Strong understanding of BMS architecture and communication protocols (CAN, UART, etc.).
• Knowledge of HV system safety, insulation, creepage/clearance, and isolation techniques.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and electrical testing equipment.
