Your role and responsibilities:
As part of the ABB way and our ambitious growth strategy, we are seeking an experienced employment counsel to join the ABB Electrification team of Labour and Employment (L&E) lawyers, as China Labor & Employment Senior Counsel. In this role, you will report into the VP Global Head of L&E lawyers of ABB Electrification.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide expert strategic and legal advice on a broad spectrum of L&E law topics, shape and influence the design and/or implementation of our L&E strategies in China, manage legal risks and offer practical, creative solutions to business partners in line with ABB values, to support the business growth and success of the ABB EL business in line with strong legal and integrity standards and ABB values.
In this role, your main responsibilities will be :
Act as the primary point of contact for the Global Head of Labor & Employment Law for the Electrification business (EL) for all Labor & Employment matters across China;
Act as a key business partner, working in strong and close partnership with Legal & Integrity, EL China General Counsel and the team of local counsels as much as all other relevant EL and non-EL businesses and divisions stakeholders (a.o. HR, C&B, Investigations), ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and in line with the highest standards of integrity within ABB;
Support on multijurisdictional and/or cross-functional projects for all L&E matters, such as change or organizations, M&A and divestitures, HR, C&B and Compliance policies, programs and processes, ensuring operations meet legal and ethical standards;
Provide strategic L&E day-to-day advice on risk anticipation or mitigation on all Labor & Employment law related matters from recruitment, onboarding, throughout employment or end of employment, including support to the Investigations team and tracking industry trends of relevance to the business;
Manage employee disputes and litigations, including engagement of outside counsels in a strategic and cost-effective manner.

Qualifications for the role:
Qualified lawyer admitted to the Bar, with minimum 9+ years’ post qualification experience in Labor & Employment Law, preferably in both major law firm(s) and in-house role(s) in a multinational environment, ideally with solid experience in the APAC region;
Solid and well-diversified labor & employment law practice, including providing counsel on strategic business decisions, employee disputes (both arbitration and litigations), investigations, acquisitions and divestments and regulatory audits;
Fluent in English and Mandarin; proficiency in an additional language is a plus;
Strategic thinker with global awareness and customer focus, enthusiastic about adding value and sound judgment in identifying risks and developing legal strategies in an uncertain and changing environment;
Solid team player with clear and transparent communication style, able to build trustworthy professional relationships in a global and remote business environment; able to use creativity and influence to overcome resistance to change and resolve conflict;
Able to take a flexible and practical approach to deliver quality work under pressure with minimal supervision in a creative, commercial and solutions-oriented manner;
Highly ethical standards are a must.
