EHS TechnicianPosition Overview
Shaw Industries is searching for an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician supports facility-wide EHS operations by completing critical tasks related to all applicable Environmental, Health and Safety regulations, Shaw Management System (SMS) and SAFE requirements, and general industry best practices. The EHS Technician reports directly to the EHS Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintain a working knowledge of all Shaw SAFE system programs, the Shaw Environmental Handbook and SMS
Monitor site conditions, practices, and procedures for compliance with health and safety requirements per Plant SI Safety Policies and Risk Management SAFE Procedures.
Record EHS data and reports for the Plant SI Management Team
Serve as a resource regarding EHS concerns for hourly associates
Coordinate drills for the Plant’s Emergency Action Plan and the Plant Emergency Organization
Maintain Shift Safety Committee meeting minutes and coordinate support for the Shift Safety Champions
Maintain current chemical Safety Data Sheets in Shaw’s online HSI system
Maintain the EHS website
Coordinate routine PPE audits to include managing vendors for safety eyeglasses, safety shoes/boots, and molded ear plugs
Participate in incident investigations and follow up on Corrective Actions
Assist with various facility inspections by outside agencies
Maintain safety program related to contractor and vendor access
Perform SAFE system compliance audits and tasks which may include, but not be limited to: Fire and life safety systems, lock-out procedures, Powered Industrial Trucks, Hot work permits, etc.
Other duties as assigned by Department Manager

QUALIFICATIONS
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work within a team or independently as required
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
EDUCATION/TRAINING
High School diploma or GED equivalency
Previous experience in a industrial/manufacturing environment
OSHA 30 hr General Industry certification and/or related safety certification (preferred)
Fall Protection Competent Person certified (Preferred) or must be able to obtain within 3 months of obtaining the position
CPR/First Aid certified by the American Red Cross or must be able to obtain within 3 months of obtaining the position
Must be able to obtain Hoisting and Rigging Authorizing Person certification
Valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record (preferred)
Work Shift
