EHS Sr. Engineer (Legal and Enviromental Focused)

Eaton’s IS VEH VGNA division is currently seeking a EHS Sr. Engineer (Legal and Enviromental Focused).
**What you’ll do:**
**Basic function:**
This position provides environmental, health, safety, and security leadership to the site. Individual is accountable for: directing EHS activities at his/her location(s); establishing EHS objectives and targets; internal reporting of EHS performance; communication of national, area, and local regulatory requirements, and ensuring documents are available in the local languages. This Position is responsible for: maintaining site legal compliance, ISO 14001, Zero waste to landfill and Zero Water Discharge certifications and Voluntary Programs (Clean Industry); assuring accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics; assuring closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings on a timely basis; completion of required training for EHS personnel; creating a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes. Being conducted at any time according to Eaton’s Ethics and Values.
**Main responsibilities and authority:**
• Determines strategic plan to achieve and maintain Environmental and general Legal compliance of the site, ISO 14001 certification, zero waste to landfill certification, zero water discharge certification, and voluntary programs (Clean industry) certification.
• Manages and directs site in achieving EHS targets & objectives. Directs development, maintenance, and achievement of goals in support of corporate and business group EHS strategic initiatives.
• Facilitates risk assessment at the location to identify critical EHS hazards and aspects. Works with leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key EHS risks.
• Determines appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
• Supports creation of EHS goals for the site manager and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
• Works to assign MESH element champions and facilitate their engagement in ownership of the MESH elements. Acting as a Champion or Co-Champion in several categories or elements (according to the assignment matrix.
• Drives and promotes zero incident EHS culture throughout site.
• Creates and facilitates EHS engagement through EHS teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year.
• Works with leadership team and MESH element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, and local regulations.
• Uses established EHS data processes such as MESH Prism to manage environmental data, environmental projects, EHS action items and other pertinent information.
• Create training matrix to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion; attend training courses assigned by HR department.
• Work with site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
• Performs activities according to the Quality and Environmental policies established by the business.
• Applies the Safety and Environment principles and methodology to prevent accidents.
• Responsible for actively participating in all Continuous Improvement activities in my area of responsibility effectively utilizing EBS processes and tools, such as ELSS. CIF, PRO-Launch, EQS and others as applicable, and others as appropriate according to the CI Competency Matrix for EHS.
**Qualifications:**
**Education level required:**
+ Bachelor Degree in Industrial or Environment & Safety or similar
+ Bilingual Spanish - English
**Years and area of experience required:**
+ +3 experience years as EHS Engineer in manufacturing industry
+ Prior experience or education with an emphasis in environmental, health and safety program management and employee training.
**Technical competencies:**
+ Comprehension of Eaton, industry, state, and country EHS requirements.
+ Adept at utilization of company-wide system for reporting EHS data and information
+ Knowledge of Mexican regulatory laws
+ Responsibility for actively participating in all Continuous Improvement activities in my area of responsibility effectively utilizing EBS process and tools, such as
+ ELSS, CIF, Pro-Launch, EQS and others as applicable and others as appropriate according to the CI Competency matrix for EHS:
+ Comply with an Intermediate level 5's, SW
+ Meet an Intermediate PSK level
+ Comply with a foundation VSM level
+ Comply with a TVSM Intermediate level.

**Additional Information:**
**ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEM RESPONSABILITY**
• Separate dangerous residues from the normal trash
• Place the dangerous residues (gloves, cloths, etc.) in the assigned containers.
• Maintain area clean and free of contaminants.
• Not waste of water or electricity.
• Report any activity that can put in risk my safety and environment.
• Identify and give adequate disposition to all chemical products, which can contaminate the environment.
• Acting immediately in chemists’ discharge case.
• Ensure the rights containers for disposition of dangerous residues (identifying containers and containers to prevent discharge)

Support and participate in the Fresh Eyes Audit, ISO IATF/ EQMS Policies/ Group Procedures/ Local Procedures, etc.
