Parker Lord in Cary, NC is seeking anEnvironmental, Health and Safety Specialist (EHS Specialist II).This position assists with organizing and managing Corporate and facility activities and goals related to Environment, Safety and Health to ensure compliance with regulations to maintain a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace. The EHS Specalist II will work with operations and engineering staff on a regular basis as well as regulatory agencies as necessary. In matters of EHS, this position will be directly responsible for successful implementation of EHS programs and procedures.
This role will be located in Cary, NC and onsite 5 days a week. Our facility is a combination of office space, chemical labs, and pilot production plant space.

+ Organizes and leads health, safety and environmental programs to ensure accident prevention and regulatory compliance.
+ Maintain the Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Program of the facility to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
+ Responsible for the development, documentation, improvement, and audit of facility environmental, health and safety systems and to assure conformance and effectiveness.
+ Determine facility environmental, safety and health requirements and analyze for compatibility with corporate practices.
+ Resolve environmental, health and safety issues in a professional, timely, and effective manner.
+ Provide EHS-related training to personnel and develop appropriate training materials.
+ Ensure that best practices, incidents, near misses, etc. are communicated between facilities following established guidelines.
+ Lead activities in support of Kaizen, Safety Star Point Teams, Emergency Response Teams, Carbon Reduction Teams and other project teams.
+ Complete industrial hygiene air sampling per matrix or as needed.
+ Manage hazardous waste shipments, inspections, and training.
+ Responsible for Federal, State and Local regulatory environmental reporting (i.e. hazardous waste, Tier II)
+ Issue & distribute accurate monthly safety statistics reports.
+ Support and manage corrective actions from Corporate EHS audits; ensure all necessary follow-up activity from safety and environmental audits are performed to assure compliance/conformance.
+ On site contact for Corporate EHS Department and Regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, EPA) and manage actions resulting from inspections.
+ Manage all applicable EHS reporting requirements in a timely and accurate manner
+ Maintain necessary EHS records
+ Ensure compliance with Corporate EHS Policy and Directives
+ Support customer EHS requirements
+ Limited travel to benchmark and share best practices with manufacturing sites.
Required Qualifications
+ Education:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related discipline.
+ 3+ years in the environmental, health and safety field with demonstrated ability to assume increasing responsibility.
+ The ability to regularly engage with employees on specific EHS issues.
+ Working knowledge of industry safety, OSHA, EPA, and NC DEQ other state-specific agency regulations and environmental system standards and their application to an industrial environment.
+ Ability to effectively communicate environmental, health and safety concepts, plans and technical data.
+ Proficient using Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Publisher)
+ Must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related discipline.
+ Professionally recognized safety or environmental certification (ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH)
+ RCRA Hazardous Waste Management training in accordance with 40 CFR 262.34.
+ DOT training in accordance with 49 CFR 172.700-704.
+ 40 hour initial and 8-hour refresher training in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER).
+ ISO 14001 experience.
+ Knowledge of SAP, Benchmark Gensuite, HumanTech and/or other EHS-related software.
This position is subject to meeting U.S. export compliance and/or U.S. Government contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.
