The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining the environmental, health, & safety, health program at the SMP Facility under the direction of the EHS Manager. The goal of this position is to minimize the risks posed by hazards to its employees and to the company by supporting appropriate hazard control systems and programs and maintaining full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support policies, programs and projects to abate workplace hazards.Support and train on safety procedures and help facility with plant specific issues.Conduct safety & environmental audits for air, water, hazardous wastes.Deliver safety training programs as needed including LO/TO, Confined Space Entry.Establish a sound working relationship with the shop floor and leadership team regarding the control of occupational safety and health hazards.Maintain awareness of current OSHA and other applicable safety and health regulations.Aid in completion of regulatory reports including Form R, Annual Hazardous Waste Generator Report, Waste Water Discharge Reports, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in safety engineering, occupational health, or a related science.1-2 years’ experience in the field of EH&S in a manufacturing environment.Prior safety experience or co-op internship within a manufacturing environment is preferred.Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office Products (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point)Ability to work independently as well as within groups to meet established timelines.General understanding of safety, industrial hygiene and engineering principals and the ability to apply to the company’s operations. /*generated inline style */   All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. /*generated inline style */ Relocation
