If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our team as an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist in Peoria, IL.

In this critical role, you’ll support Caterpillar’s global hazardous materials inventory by driving the development and continuous improvement of standards, systems, programs, and procedures related to hazardous materials across our facilities. What you will do:

Identifies common environmental health hazards related to the use of hazardous materials inherent in the organization's operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.Ensures EHS training is completed to comply with regulatory requirements or in support of facility, division, or enterprise objectives.Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts line management to problems and makes recommendations for improvement.Leads projects related to regulatory compliance or improving enterprise, division and facility training/processes/systems/procedures.

What you will have:

Experience:4-year degree or 3+ years of experience in EHS policy complianceA degree in an appropriate scientific discipline is highly desired.  Experience working with different products, processes or systems or general manufacturing experience is desirable.  Must have ability to communicate effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other business units, customers and suppliers.Hazardous Material certifications such as CHMM, CIH, CSP and desired.

EHS Policy Compliance:Knowledge of policies and the ability to implement them to ensure that activities are safe for the people and the environment as well as in compliance with legal requirements and standards.Remaining in compliance with federal, state, and local compliance requirements.Strong knowledge of environmental regulationsRisk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools, and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.Sustainability: Knowledge of sustainability strategy and ability to integrate sustainability into the overall business strategy of the organization. Leads research and general administrative requirements for our sustainability efforts.Interpersonal Relationships and Collaborating: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.Problem Solving: Knowledge, and ability to apply, approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems.Overcoming Resistance to Change: Understanding and insight into the futility of refusing to accept the inevitable and ability to overcome resistance and adapt to a complex and changing environment.Decision Making, Critical Thinking and Risk Management: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Summary Pay Range:

$95,640.00 - $143,520.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
