Job Description

Develop and administer facility Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and corporate policies, standards, procedures and objectives. Foster facility awareness, involvement and accountability of EHS issues to assure full integration of EHS initiatives with business activities. Direct facility activities to minimize company liability and promote sustainability. This role will generally support locations of 150-350 employees; with moderate environmental and safety complexity.

THIS ROLE IS NOT REMOTE - IT IS ONSITE AT TWO LOCATIONS - CALHOUN AND DALTON, GA

WHAT YOU GET TO DO


Safety Compliance & Oversight

Conduct daily Gemba walks and safety audits.Enforce OSHA compliance, lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, machine guarding, and hazard communication Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage with formal root cause analysisCoordinate with supervisors and operators to address behavioral safety issues

Training & Onboarding

Lead all EHS-related training (LOTO, forklift, fire safety, chemical handling)Maintain training documentation, schedules, and employee certificationsOversee and improve safety onboarding for new hires

Program Management

Maintain and improve the site’s Safety Observation Program.Lead the plant’s Safety Committee and ensure participation and accountabilityOwn the risk assessments and site-specific Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)

Regulatory & Reporting

Manage OSHA logs (300, 300A), EPA permits, hazardous waste manifestsPrepare and submit compliance reports (stormwater, waste reporting)Coordinate with corporate EHS and regional leadership for compliance alignment​

Emergency Preparedness

Conduct fire drills, shelter-in-place procedures, and review emergency action plansEnsure emergency equipment (extinguishers, etc.) is inspected and maintained

Continuous Improvement & Projects

Support plant initiatives on reducing recordable injuries and first aidsPartner with Maintenance and Quality to address ergonomic risks and design safer workspacesDrive CAPEX safety projects (e.g., ventilation, guarding upgrades, lighting improvements)

Current Goals & Projects for the EHS Team
1. Achieve Zero Recordables – Reduce incident rate through proactive risk elimination
2. Training System Overhaul – Transition to a standardized and consistent training regiment.
3. Safety Culture Revamp – Increase team lead engagement, peer observations, and safety ownership
4. Compliance Refresh – Conduct internal audits to prepare for corporate/regulatory inspections
5. Visual Management Expansion – Implement more visible safety metrics and signage across plant

Must-Have Qualifications
• 3–5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing setting (ideally plastics, chemicals, or film extrusion)
• Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations
• Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations and implementing corrective actions
• Proven ability to lead training and engage across all levels of an organization
• Strong documentation, reporting, and tracking skills (Excel, SharePoint, or safety platforms)
• Willingness to be on the floor daily and work flexible hours when needed

• Strong leadership skills.
 

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CHMM, or OSHA 30/500
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• Experience with CAPEX project management or risk assessment frameworks
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 or other environmental management systems
• Prior experience managing EHS for multi-shift or 24/7 operations

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field or equivalent experience preferred but not required.
