GENERAL SUMMARY:

The EHS Manager will develop, implement and monitor programs and procedures to ensure overall plant and company safety, ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. Creates and promotes a Company-wide safety culture. Responsible for developing and delivering safety and skills training to new and existing employees in assigned areas in a timely and efficient manner. Administers Document Control Process and ensures proper management of all policies and procedures and associated monitoring and trainings.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  

Plans, implements and coordinates programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuriesDemonstrates a high visibility and positive attitude to establish an effective and responsible safety cultureCompiles, analyzes, interprets and reports statistical data related to safety and health issuesAdministers company safety programsDevelops policies and programs to ensure regulatory compliance with all federal, state and local laws and guidelines, including OSHA and EPAConducts incident and near miss investigations and evaluates information to identify significant hazards and loss trends. Identifies and recommends preventive measures and corrective actions.Performs regular on-site reviews of operations/facilities: physical inspections of grounds, buildings, equipment and operations; identifies hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance, recommends corrective measuresDevelops appropriate courses and leads all safety and skills training initiatives for all departments and all levels of employeesEnsures all personnel training and corrective action follow up is completedMonitors information on regulations and requirements related to hazardous materials and agents.Investigates and evaluates new safety equipment for appropriatenessConduct regular plant safety auditsLead the development and maintenance of Company training curriculumMaintains all training records on skill and safety training requirementsLead Schlosser’s 6S programPerform other related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced environment managing multiple prioritiesProficiency with Microsoft Office packagesFull understanding of manufacturing processesComprehensive knowledge of safety program management, regulatory standards and statistical reportingExcellent oral and written communication skills required, with the demonstrated ability to work with teams and provide training, both individually and conduct large group presentations

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health and Environmental Sciences, Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, Human Resources, Training or closely related areaMinimum of 5 years’ experience in a Safety Management role in a manufacturing environment preferredMinimum of 2 years’ experience with employee training programsMust have experience in 6S/Lean implementationCertified Safety Professional (CSP) designation preferred or other certification in safety or healthEnvironmental safety experience strongly preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to read reports and uses computers. Ability to communicate, write, type and operate office equipment. Ability to sit, stand, walk and exert up to 35 pounds of force to move an object. Ability to work in an environment with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals and varying temperatures.
