EHS Coordinator

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for supporting the daily execution of the environmental, health and safety programs at our Cambridge site, playing a key role in reinforcing a safe and compliant workplace through hands-on support and consistent engagement.

This position reports to the UK EHS Manager is part of the UK EHS Team located in Cambridge, UK and will be an on-site position. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Provide general health, and safety administrative support, ensuring effective record-keeping, reporting, and coordination of activities, this will include maintenance of our occupational health surveillance system.Assist with EHS systems and programs.Support the conduction of risk assessments, inspections, and audits.Coordination of safety teams such as fire marshals and first aidersMaintenance, monitoring and ordering of EHS supplies

The essential requirements of the job include:

Education – Relevant H&S Qualifications, for example IOSH qualificationYears of Functional Experience - 3+ years of practical experience with a variety of EHS activities supporting a laboratory-based company.Technical skills - Expertise in Microsoft applications, especially Excel.Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to talk comfortably and knowledgeably with a wide range of stakeholder across the site and Abcam.Organisation and planning: Good decision making skills, strong team working, collaborative, proactive planning and organisational skills.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

Working within the life science sector and familiar with a laboratory environment
