General Purpose:
Responsible for supporting the implementation of routine activities related to the efficient management of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) programs in offices and manufacturing sites in order to ensure that the required company and government standards and regulations are met.
Principle Accountabilities:
· Participate to meetings involving environmental safety, training and awareness programs.
· Document tracking of audits and agency inspections.
· Participate in accident report investigations and determine if event was related to furniture, fixtures or machinery as well as how such accidents might be prevented in the future
· Attend presentations of technical information concerning specific projects/schedules.
· Assist in staff training sessions on EH&S policy and procedures. May be required to demonstrate use of safety equipment.
· Collaborate with engineers and physicians to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions and/or equipment.
· Collect samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially toxic materials for analysis.
· Collect samples of hazardous materials, or arrange for sample collection.
· Conduct programs such as noise surveys, continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, and asbestos management plans.
· Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
· Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, and first-aid supplies.
· Investigate health-related complaints, and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations.
· Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort, or performance.
· Maintain and update emergency response plans and procedures.
· Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers' health and safety.
· Prepare hazardous, radioactive, and mixed waste samples for transportation and storage by treating, compacting, packaging, and labeling them.
· Provide new-employee health and safety orientations, and develop materials for these presentations
