Job Overview:
The EEG Technician performs standard and complex studies which include electrocerebral recordings and Isoelectric tracings according to minimal technical standards of the American EEG Society.

Required:
HS Diploma or equivalentAt least one year previous experience in EEG or Polysomnographic studiesAt least one year in a healthcare-related field in a hospital or physicians' settingPreferred:
Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T)Certifications and Licenses Required:
BLS Certification (American Heart Association)Scheduling Requirements:
Shift working, day or evening At least 4 shifts monthly preferredPer Diem (PD)Essential Functions:
Transports patients to testing area and explains the procedure to the patient/parent in order to allay any apprehension of the testsTransports equipment to patient areas when necessary, to perform bedside studies, explains the procedure to the patient/parent in order to allay any apprehension of the testsCalibrates and adjusts equipment, maintains equipment and work area in a clean, safe, and operational orderAssumes responsibility for the routine maintenance of the EEG and EMG equipmentNotifies the Cardiopulmonary Administrator if major repairs are necessaryMaintains a sufficient supply of stockApplies suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions on the patient s head utilizing the 10-20 International Electrode Placement System and checks their performanceSelects predetermined electrode combinations as well as special combinations made necessary by the case under studyMaintains a statistical information log of testing and patient informationAssists with and assures the completion of clerical work related to the performance of EEG and EMG sFiles recordings and reportsSends reports out to respective doctor, patient floor or other medical facilityEnters all charges/credits into the computer systemObtains standard and complex recordings, recognizes artifacts and takes appropriate steps to eliminate themDescribes all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the testAdheres to and demonstrates practice of institutional patient and personal safety proceduresAttends mandatory in-service programs addressing fire, safety and infection control and other mandatory subjects at least once per yearPractices Universal Precautions at all timesUses activation procedures such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation and sleepPerforms other duties as required by the department s managerBenefits and Perks:
