The opportunity

Delaware North Parks and Resorts is hiring a full-time or part-time Edutainers to join our team at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida. As an Edutainer, you will be responsible for entertaining and educating guests through performances featuring memorized scripts, choreographed movements, science experiments, acting, and improvisational activities. What will you do?Perform in STEAM targeted live stage productions interacting with multiple visual systems, scientific experiments, and live audiences.Perform teasers outside of the theater, to engage the guests in science experiments that will lead them into the next timed show.Active participant in development and trainings in S.T.E.A.M. related opportunities for guest engagement through scripted performances.Rehearse lines, blocking, science experiments, knowledge of safety standards for chemicals and items being used.  Prepare and memorize a script for the movement trial. Learn and follow script and safety procedures for safety restraints. Edutainers will know the ins and outs of all of their scientific experiments and be able to explain them to all levels of guests.Prepare, clean, inventory, and properly store scientific materials.Support extra events, launches and needs of the park as assigned.

More about youMust be at least 18 years old. Ability to safely perform choreographed routines with theatrical movements while wearing costumes weighing approximately 15 lbs. or more. Prior acting or professional presentation experience is required, preferably in a live scripted show with the ability to improvise and work with engaging a live audience. Ability to perform science experiments with the proper PPE. Experience in using electronic equipment and computer equipment such as microphones and video equipment. Ability to memorize/stick to the script and stage blocking. Scripted and memorize audition required.

Physical requirementsAbility to stand for long periods of time.Ability to push, pull, bend, stoop, crawl on knees while operating objects up to 40 pounds.Ability to move and dance in full body costume. Applicants must meet specific height requirements to safely perform in character costumes. Height requirements vary by character as costumes are designed for performers within designated height ranges (generally between 4’11” to and 6’1”).This is an outdoor position that will require you to withstand year round Florida temperatures during the entire shift.
