Educational Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Pay Rate: $50 per hour Location: Oswego, IL Duration: ASAP through End of School Year Modality/License Type: Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Schedule: Full-Time preferred; Part-Time accepted (flexible, as little as 1 day/week) Setting: In-person School Levels: Elementary, Middle, High School, and K–12 Academy Number of Buildings: 5 total within the district (specific buildings to be confirmed) Position Overview The Educational Sign Language Interpreter is a trained professional who facilitates communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and the broader educational community. Using American Sign Language (ASL), the interpreter ensures full access to classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities. Minimum Requirements + Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interpreting, Deaf Studies, or related field (preferred) + State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable) + Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certificate (as required by state or client) + Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification (as required by state or client) + Compliance with relevant professional standards of practice + Current CPR certification (if applicable) + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (if applicable) + Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements + Must be at least 18 years old Caseload Information + Full-time strongly preferred; part-time schedules accepted + District includes 5 buildings with interpreting needs + Full-time role will primarily support elementary level + Interpreters may also assist with absence coverage districtwide + Further caseload details will be discussed during the interview Benefits At Amergis, we firmly believe that our employees are the heartbeat of our organization and we are happy to offer the following benefits: + Competitive pay & weekly paychecks + Health, dental, vision, and life insurance + 401(k) savings plan + Awards and recognition programs *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status.
