Educational Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) – Oxnard, CA Remainder of the 2025–2026 School Year Pay: $45 per hour Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, Day Shift Openings: 4 Position Overview We are seeking skilled Educational Sign Language Interpreters (ASL Interpreters) to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students in Oxnard, CA for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year. This school-based role focuses on facilitating communication between students and the educational community, ensuring full access to instruction, classroom activities, and school-wide engagement. Key Responsibilities + Interpret spoken English into American Sign Language (ASL) and convey signed communication back into spoken English. + Provide interpreting services during classroom instruction, small-group work, one-on-one support, and school activities. + Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, and district personnel to support student success. + Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all applicable professional and ethical standards. + Support communication access during meetings, events, and other school functions as needed. Minimum Requirements + Proficiency in American Sign Language. + Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or a related field (preferred). + State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable). + Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) certification, per state or district requirements. + Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification, if required by state regulation or client request. + Compliance with professional standards of educational interpreting. + Current CPR certification, if applicable. + TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, as required. + Current health certificate, if required by contract or local regulation. + Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements. + Must be at least 18 years of age.
