Educational Sign Language Interpreter – $40/hr – Westmont, IL – Full-Time
Position Overview:
We are hiring an Educational Sign Language Interpreter to facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and others in an educational setting. This role ensures students have access to classroom instruction, activities, and discussions through interpretation using American Sign Language (ASL).
Assignment Details:
+ Location: Westmont, IL
+ Start Date: January 5, 2026
+ End Date: 5 months
+ Schedule: Monday–Friday | 21 hrs/week
+ Modality: In-person
+ Pay Rate: $40/hr | W2 position with full benefits
+ Openings: 1 full-time and 1 part-time (afternoons only, 1:1 interpreting for a preschooler)
Responsibilities:
+ Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa
+ Provide accommodations for classroom instruction and activities
+ Maintain compliance with professional standards of practice
Requirements:
+ Proficiency in American Sign Language
+ Associate or Bachelor’s degree in interpreting, deaf studies, or related field (preferred)
+ State Board of Education Initial Sign Language Interpreter Certificate (as applicable)
+ EIPA or RID certification (as applicable per state or client requirement)
+ Current CPR (if applicable)
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest X-ray (if applicable)
+ Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
