IU Health | Education Liaison - Inpatient
Location: Charis Center for Eating Disorders in person at 6640 Intech Blvd Ste 195, Indianapolis, IN 46278
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 – 11:00 AM, 7:30 – 11:30 AM, or 8:00 – 12:00 PM. Part-time 20 hours per week (0.5FTE)
School Program operates on a 43 week school schedule (2 weeks Winter Break, 7 weeks Summer break. The Liaison can also consult to support a variety of other patient populations on a rotating needs basis from Riley Hospital for Children at 705 Riley Hospital Dr Indianapolis, IN either via phone or in person when Charis Center census is low.

The mission of the Riley Hospital of Children School Program is to serve and support the educational needs of school-aged patients and promote health equity aligned with IU Health’s mission to improve the health of all Hoosiers.
About the Role
The School Program is dedicated to supporting hospitalized patients' educational needs throughout their treatment and recovery. Educational liaisons collaborate with medical teams and schools to ensure normalcy during hospitalization, offer medical recommendations, and facilitate smooth transitions back to school. The program primarily works with pediatric patients at the Charis Center for Eating Disorders and also supports various other populations at Riley Hospital for Children. Services include coordinating with local schools, providing bedside instruction, developing educational plans like IEPs and 504 plans, advocating for patients, conducting academic testing, participating in school conferences, and maintaining organized, HIPAA-compliant student records.
Key Responsibilities
Bachelor's Degree is required. Requires 3-5 years of relevant experience. Requires a valid Indiana Teacher's license with special education endorsements. Preferred prior teaching experiences in the general education setting or special education classroom setting.Why IU Health?
