The Office of Early Childhood is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Early Childhood Strategy Director. This pivotal role is a unique opportunity to drive transformative change and ensure every child in Louisiana has a strong start. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a passion to make a lasting impact on children, families, and communities across the state. As the Early Childhood Strategy Director, you will be the central force behind all early childhood initiatives at the LDOE. You will lead a dedicated team of education professionals, overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of strategies that unify the early childhood system and improve child outcomes. This role requires a blend of visionary leadership and hands-on program management.
Preferred Experience
The following qualifications are preferred but not required:
+ Experience in a similar leadership position within a state Department of Education, nonprofit, or a large school district.
+ Proficiency in using data to drive decision-making, evaluate program effectiveness, and report outcomes to both internal and external audiences.
Minimum Qualifications
Ten years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Lead all Early Childhood Initiative:Overseeing all projects within the Early Childhood Strategy team. This includes guiding research on new strategies and developing innovative approaches to improve child outcomes.
+ Serve as a Key Liaison:Interacting with a wide range of stakeholders—from educators and administrators to members of the general public. You'll represent the LDOE at all levels, from local sites to state and national conferences.
+ Oversee Coordinated Systems:Direct the implementation and strategy for critical programs like the coordinated enrollment system, which expands access to quality early childhood programming.
+ Advise Senior Leadership:Serve as a key advisor to the Early Childhood Assistant Superintendent, offering recommendations on specific issues and helping to set the annual priorities for the office.
+ Support Cross-Functional Projects:Work closely with staff from other divisions and offices to ensure early childhood strategies are aligned with broader academic planning and other initiatives.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
