It serves as a key liaison to educators, administrators, and the public, coordinating communication and guidance related to assessments, accountability, and analytics. The role directs staff who support educator training, policy, contracts, and operations, and ensures continuity between early childhood and K-12 programs, including Louisiana’s early childhood accountability system and coordinated enrollment. Responsibilities also include managing large-scale grants and contracts, supporting state and federal compliance, advising on legislative initiatives, and monitoring budgets. The position provides technical assistance to stakeholders, evaluates staff performance, supports leadership development, and makes recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent on programs, priorities, and budgetary matters, while ensuring alignment with departmental goals and policies. Minimum Qualifications Ten years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR Six years of full-time work experience plus seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR A bachelor's degree plus seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR An advanced degree plus six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: As the Education Division Director you will: + Lead Strategic Planning and Policy Alignment:Guide the unified Operations and Policy division by setting strategic direction for the entire AAA office, aligning early childhood and K–12 systems, and ensuring cross-functional coordination across the AAA office and other LDOE divisions. + Supervise and Develop Staff:Conduct regular check-ins with division chiefs of staff, team leads, and direct reports, oversee hiring and onboarding, support professional growth, and ensure strong execution and accountability across teams. + Engage Stakeholders and Communicate Policy:Serve as a key liaison to school systems, early childhood networks, and external partners by hosting meetings, approving guidance materials, and responding to complex inquiries related to assessments, accountability, and analytics. + Oversee Grants, Contracts, and Budget:Monitor and manage large-scale grants, contracts, and procurements; review deliverables and timelines; and make budgetary recommendations aligned with agency priorities. + Support High-Priority Projects and Emerging Needs:Lead rapid response to new legislation, field challenges, or agency requests, while supervising the AAA Fellow to implement officewide initiatives and improve organizational systems. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office.
