Job Focus Area
This Education Consultant Supervisor position, located within the Louisiana Department of Education’s Office of Assessment, Accountability, and Analytics, provides strategic leadership and oversight of statewide math and science assessment development. The role manages a team of Education Consultants responsible for designing and refining high-quality, standards-aligned assessments, including LEAP 2025, LEAP Connect, ELPT, ELPT-Connect and LEAP 360, for all students, including those in special populations. The supervisor ensures alignment with Louisiana Student Standards and works closely with the Office of Teaching and Learning to maintain coherence across curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

+ Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of professionals to deliver high-quality, standards-aligned assessment content
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across internal teams, external vendors, and educational stakeholders
+ Experience implementing a continuous improvement cycle to refine assessment strategy through data analysis, feedback, and observation
+ Ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to statewide assessment efforts aligned to Louisiana’s academic goals
+ Background in teaching math or science and/or serving as a content expert in one or both subject areas, with a strong understanding of instructional alignment
Minimum Qualifications
Nine years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus six years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Approves the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of current and long-range plans, rules, regulations, guidelines, and policies for multiple statewide programs in accordance with federal or state laws and policies.
+ Participates in and is willing to lead the design, development, and implementation of innovative educational programs and research projects on the basis of national and state reports, trends, economic conditions, future needs, educational research findings, and state and federal legislative or policy developments.
+ Recruits, interviews, and recommends approval for hiring personnel and evaluates performance of personnel.
+ Approves budgetary reports, records, and activities, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and other regulations, policies, and procedures for budgetary control and authorizes the allocation and expenditure of state, federal, and other funds to eligible recipients for implementation of all programs.
+ Advises the division director of specific issues related to division programs and the progress of programs in meeting established goals and objectives and obtains concurrence on policy and procedure approvals or to advise school and system leaders and other stakeholder groups of education programs, policies, procedures, laws and regulations, and answers questions and assists in the resolution of education problems.
+ Researches educational issues, federal and state laws, and state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) policies to develop proposed legislation impacting education.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant Supervisor series have a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $33.65 hourly, $2,692.31 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire .
