Job Focus Area
The Louisiana Department of Education is seeking a dynamic leader as anEducation Consultant 4to serve as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Chief of Operations within the Office of Operations. This role sits at the center of a fast-paced, mission-driven team that oversees critical statewide functions, including federal program support, school nutrition, attendance initiatives, contracts and procurement, and facilities management.
As an Education Consultant 4 (Chief of Staff), you will be the primary partner and advisor to the Deputy Chief of Operations, helping to drive cross-office initiatives, streamline operations, and ensure effective decision-making that impacts schools and students across Louisiana. Success in this role requires exceptional communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, paired with a strong understanding of education policy and operational strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
Eight years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
As an Education Consultant 4, you’ll serve as the Chief of Staff to the Deputy Chief of Operations, playing a critical role in driving the daily operations, strategic initiatives, and cross-office coordination that support the Louisiana Department of Education’s mission to improve outcomes for all students.
In this role, you will:
+ Serve as the primary advisor and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Chief of Operations.
+ Act as first point of contact for executive-level staff within the Office of Operations.
+ Coordinate activities, communications, and problem resolution requiring executive attention.
+ Direct, manage, and oversee daily operations and staff activities within the Office of Operations.
+ Support divisions including Federal Support and Grantee Relations, Nutrition Support, Attendance Support, Contracts and Procurement, and Buildings & Grounds/Property Management.
+ Lead and monitor the implementation of cross-office initiatives and projects.
+ Ensure alignment of operations with agency priorities and statewide education goals.
+ Track organizational performance and operational effectiveness.
+ Identify opportunities for greater efficiency, alignment, and impact.
+ Facilitate communication between the Deputy Chief of Operations, internal staff, and external partners.
+ Promote collaborative, aligned decision-making across divisions and with statewide partners.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $31.25 hourly, $2,500 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire .
