Job Focus Area
The Education Consultant 3 position is located within the Office of Teaching and Learning, Office of Certification and will serve as the division-level specialist with regards to Teacher Certification. The EC3 will ensure adherence to state policies and regulations concerning implementation for all Division of Certification programs; manage and provide guidance to team members regarding escalated customer concerns in terms of certification portal. All duties will be performed in compliance with current Departmental policy. This position requires advance knowledge of certification policy for interpretation to internal and external stakeholders. Additionally this position will require an in-depth knowledge of standards for certification of elementary/secondary school personnel, statutory requirements for licensure and approval of teacher education programs is required, enabling the person in the job to assist in both the development and implementation of these guidelines, which affect the entire educational community in Louisiana.
Minimum Qualifications
Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
As an Education Consultant 3, daily responsibilities include:
+ Process certification applications via the Louisiana Educator Portal
+ Respond to inquiries from educators, academic institutions, and stakeholders regarding certification policy and procedures
+ Facilitates office hours with external stakeholders to address certification policy and respond to certification-related inquiries
+ Lead Bi-Weekly certification specialist meeting
+ Interpret and apply certification policy for internal and external stakeholders
+ Apply statutory requirements for certification and approval of teacher education programs in Louisiana
+ Assist in the development and implementation of certification guidelines impacting Louisiana teachers and leaders
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type:This is a promotional opportunity for permanent Louisiana Department of Education employees. May be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire .
