Job Focus Area
The LDOE Division of Academic Content is seeking an Education Consultant 3 to contribute to the advancement of K-12 English language arts education across the state. This pivotal role is dedicated to designing and implementing high-quality statewide initiatives specifically within this critical content area, directly supporting our overarching mission to advance exceptional teaching and learning in every Louisiana classroom. By empowering educators with essential tools, resources, and guidance in English language arts education, you'll play a crucial part in fostering student success. We seek a highly skilled professional with expertise in English language arts and literacy, demonstrated collaborative abilities, and proven project leadership to drive innovation and elevate educational outcomes throughout Louisiana.
Minimum Qualifications
Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Spend time creating and reviewing high-quality K-12 English language arts curriculum and instructional materials, ensuring they align with state standards and best practices, and creating instructional resources and professional learning to support educators.
+ Engage regularly with district and school educators, providing guidance and support to implement effective English language arts and literacy programs. This includes assisting in the management of teacher leader advisors and external contractors.
+ Act as a go-to resource and state leader in English language arts, maintaining an in-depth, current knowledge of standards, curriculum, and instructional practices. You'll use this expertise to inform projects that will impact various stakeholders in education.
+ Work closely with colleagues across the Division of Academic Content and other LDOE teams, as well as external partners, to ensure cohesive and impactful initiatives. Your week will involve significant collaboration to deliver consistent messages and strategies to the field.
+ Juggle multiple projects and work streams simultaneously, overseeing the development and execution of programs that elevate science and environmental education outcomes for all students.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work are Monday - Friday; hours will be determined.
Compensation: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate (SER) of $28.97 hourly, $2,317.20 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire .
