Adecco Search is actively recruiting for a Grinder/EDM 1st Shift Machinist in Rochester, New York. The Grinder/EDM Machinist is responsible for operating precision grinding and electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment to fabricate high-precision components for aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications. The role requires strict adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards in a fast-paced, detail-oriented manufacturing environment. Essential Duties for the 1st Shift Grinder/EDM Machinist in Rochester, NY: • Set up and operate various grinding machines including OD, ID, surface, and centerless grinders to produce components to exacting tolerances. • Operate Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM machines, ensuring proper setup and parameter selection based on engineering drawings and work instructions. • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements. • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, and other standard inspection equipment to verify part dimensions and quality. • Monitor machining processes and adjust feed, speed, and tooling as necessary to maintain quality and production targets. • Conduct in-process inspections and complete all required quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner. • Follow and adhere to safety procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and company policies always. • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work area, including daily 5S responsibilities. • Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance or adjustments on machines when needed. • Collaborate with engineers, quality inspectors, and other machinists to resolve issues related to part quality, tooling, or process optimization. • Input accurate data into the ERP system for inventory movement, job tracking, and process updates. • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality. • Support cross-training and provide guidance to less experienced team members when appropriate. Qualifications for the 1st Shift Grinder/EDM Machinist in Rochester, NY: • High school diploma or GED required; formal machinist training or apprenticeship preferred. • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating grinding and/or EDM machinery in a precision manufacturing environment. • Strong working knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T, and inspection methods. • Familiarity with tight-tolerance machining (within .0001”). • Proficiency with standard shop math and measurement tools.
