Economic Development Engineer - Two (2) Positions (Jr. & Sr. Level)
REPORTS TO: Engineering Design Supervisor
** Please Note: You will be required to be in the office, 4 Days per week, and/or as additionally required @ the Centergy Building, 75 Fifth Street NW, Suite 150, Atlanta, GA
** All potential travel (less than 25%) will be in the state of GA with minimal overnight stay involved.
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide Engineering leadership, you will be the Civil Engineering subject matter expert to drive our consulting services to serve new business prospects, existing customers, external partners, and communities throughout the state.
In this position you will provide engineering leadership and expertise, as our team provides consulting services to help assess potential location in Georgia for new and expanded business, visualize plans for optimal use of existing industrial real estate including retrofit, repurpose, or redevelopment as needed.
Help plan new industrial parks in every region of Georgia to increase Georgia’s ability to attract new businesses and expanded economic opportunities in our communities and their citizens.
Provide engineering studies and industrial park design services to assist communities in selecting the most cost effective and environmentally sound solutions to their industrial real estate and infrastructure needs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis on land planning, engineering evaluation, real estate development and site design. A minimum of 4 years of experience in land planning and development. Must have or be working towards Professional Engineering accreditation to be completed on or before December 2026. Project management, communication, and problem-solving skills to coordinate most aspects of customers’ (existing customer, new business project, community, or special project) need to understand, identify, and meet critical time constraints. Must be self-motivated and be able to perform both self-directed and team-oriented project work. Must be a strong team player and very supportive of team and customers with sense of urgency to meet deadlines and obligations. Knowledge of economic and community development concepts is very helpful. Strong computer skills across a wide variety of engineering software, such as (OpenSite Designer, MicroStation, Sketchup, ARCGIS Pro, Lumion, or other 3D rendering software, Adobe Suite of Products). Good presentation skills to provide data or information to wide and diverse audiences which may include prospective businesses considering locating in Georgia, community and political leaders, company officers and other engineersJOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide engineering expertise and services to Economic Development Project Managers, Region Economic Development Managers and external partners. Conduct site or building searches for new and existing business expansions considering a location in Georgia using GIS Tools and Analysis. Provide engineering design concepts and proposals for new and existing business expansions considering a location in Georgia using Engineering Tools and Analysis. Develop relationships with external economic development partners that result in new business for the company. Provide and maintain current property information, presentation, and marketing materials to assist GPC, GDEcD, and other statewide developers with best in class building and site information to use with new and existing businesses considering a location in Georgia. Develop and maintain conceptual engineering designs for industrial and commercial developments through collaboration with external partners and communities.
