Job Description

We seek a highly competent and analytical consultant to join our economic development advisory team of 20 professionals. 

You will be responsible for:

Providing critical support to clients in developing robust investment casesConducting comprehensive socio-economic impact analysesDemonstrating value for money through rigorous economic assessmentsTranslating complex evidence into actionable outputs and recommendations

The role demands expertise in:

Delivering advisory support to clients on investment, regeneration, and planning decisionsSpecialising in regeneration, infrastructure, and transport projectsApplying knowledge in areas such as impact assessment, case-making, funding bids, planning submissions, and investment plans

Key responsibilities include:

Data Analysis and Interpretation:

Collect, interpret, analyse, and summarise quantitative and qualitative data from multiple sourcesPresent clear, accessible evidence to inform decision-making and strategy developmentUtilise policy documents, open data, market studies, and demographic data to support analyses

Strategic Planning:

Apply strategic and analytical thinking to policy and strategy developmentEnsure successful project delivery through evidence-based planning

Stakeholder Engagement:

Engage effectively with clients, public bodies, and community groupsMaintain professional relationships to facilitate project success

Collaborative Project Management:

Work efficiently within multi-disciplinary teamsManage multiple projects concurrently with strict adherence to deadlines

Communication:

Produce clear, well-structured reports, presentations, and other forms of communicationDeliver concise and impactful verbal presentations to clients and stakeholders

Investment Case Development:

Support clients in crafting compelling investment casesApply value-for-money principles, cost-benefit analysis, and economic appraisal techniquesIdentify and quantify both qualitative and quantitative benefits

Public Sector Framework Application:

Utilise public sector funding, governance, and appraisal frameworks (e.g., Green Book, HMT Appraisal Guide)Ensure compliance with relevant policies and guidelines

Planning and Impact Assessment:

Navigate the planning submission processConduct thorough evaluations of socio-economic and well-being impacts on local communities, labour markets, and regional economies

Social Value Integration:

Incorporate social value principles into project planning and executionDemonstrate the broader societal impact of economic development initiatives

Policy Expertise:

Maintain a comprehensive understanding of key economic policies and guidanceApply HM Treasury Green Book principles and the Five Case Model in project assessments

QualificationsBA/BSc (required) with a Masters ideally (desirable) subject areas such as Economics, Geography, Strategic Planning/Planning
