CVP is seeking qualified Electrocardiograph Technicians to join our team in providing services to the Veterans at VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) located in Los Angeles, CA. This is an excellent opportunity to serve our nation's Veterans while delivering high-quality cardiac diagnostic services.

 

Technicians will be assigned to the Cardiology Division of the Department of Medicine as a member of the non-invasive diagnostic team. Selected Technicians will perform various patient examinations using a variety of medical equipment and must be familiar with and competent in the operation of each machine type.

 

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM PT (normal tour of duty of eight hours per day). All federal holidays observed.

 

Pay: $35-45/hr 

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor electrocardiographic equipment to perform specialized examinations on inpatients and outpatients (resting ECG, stress testing, ambulatory monitoring)

Evaluate test results to determine appropriate machine adjustments and use alternative techniques when needed

Communicate with physicians regarding any abnormal or questionable results

Provide overall knowledge of normal/abnormal cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology, including ability to analyze echocardiograms to detect abnormalities

Understand the indications for echocardiographic contrast use and follow VA Protocol for administration

Determine necessary measurements for regurgitant lesions and obtain quality images

Explain testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety

Protect patient health information (PHI) in accordance with local policy and HIPAA privacy laws

Demonstrate patient-centered care principles and practices in daily interactions with Veterans

Observe gauges, recorder, and video screens during cardiovascular system imaging

Qualifications Ability to successfully undergo a Government sponsored background investigation (US Citizenship required)Certification as a Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)Knowledge of typical patient reactions and signs of medical/physical/psychological distress including ability to recognize, report and treat potentially lethal arrhythmiasKnowledge of common ECG equipment settings and standardized operating proceduresDemonstrated ability for proper ECG lead placementAbility to modify procedure/lead positioning to obtain correct results with patients with complicated conditions such as amputations, Parkinson's disease, and structural defectsPrior experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferredPrevious VA experience preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of timeMust be able to perform the physical requirements of the job including attaching electrodes to patients and operating diagnostic equipment
