About the Role
Pikeville Medical Center is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Technologist to perform diagnostic echocardiography and non-invasive vascular ultrasound studies. Under general supervision, the technologist will conduct a wide range of cardiovascular evaluations including Doppler, 2-D, m-mode, stress echocardiograms, carotid and venous duplex studies, arterial testing, Holter monitoring, ECGs, and transesophageal echocardiography.
This role requires strong technical competency, the ability to recognize abnormal rhythms, and proficiency in both adult and pediatric cardiovascular imaging. The technologist will support patient care throughout the diagnostic process, maintain equipment, and ensure accurate documentation in accordance with departmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform diagnostic cardiovascular and echocardiography ultrasound examinations
+ Conduct vascular imaging studies including carotid, venous, arterial duplex, segmental pressures, Doppler waveforms, PVR, thoracic outlet testing, and PPG
+ Perform ECGs, stress tests, Holter monitoring, event recorders, and TEE assistance
+ Administer image-enhancing agents and start/discontinue IV access as needed
+ Perform bubble studies
+ Monitor patients for physical or emotional changes during testing
+ Recognize abnormal rhythms and notify physicians promptly
+ Review test results for clarity and accuracy
+ Maintain patient charts, billing codes, logs, and diagnostic files
+ Clean and sterilize equipment and maintain stock areas
+ Identify equipment malfunctions and coordinate repairs
+ Educate patients and families on procedures and preparation
+ Participate in quality improvement initiatives
+ Serve as a preceptor for new staff
+ Adhere to infection control, safety, and facility policies
+ Perform additional duties as assigned
Shift Schedule
Shift: Day Shift Hours: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM Schedule: 5×8s (40 hours/week) Weekends/Holidays: As required by department needs
Minimum Requirements
+ Registry in ARDMS or CCI as a Cardiac Sonographer (required)
+ BLS required
+ Minimum 2 years of experience in Echo and Vascular (5 years preferred)
+ Experience with pediatric and adult patients
+ Familiarity with PFT, EKG, and stress testing equipment
+ Travel experience required
+ Associate’s degree or related experience preferred
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray (as required)
+ Current health certificate (per state/contract regulations)
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
+ Strong communication skills; English proficiency required
+ Computer proficiency required
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
Compensation Packages
Travel Cardiovascular Technologist Hourly Pay: $45 Meals: $476 Housing: $770 Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,046 Distance Requirement: Must live 75+ miles from facility
