Description We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Controller to lead and manage accounting operations at their organization in Honolulu, Hawaii. This key leadership role calls for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in financial oversight, team management, and expertise in the manufacturing and retail industries. The ideal candidate will excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting. Key Responsibilities: + Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering efficiency and ensuring high standards in financial operations. + Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly and annual financial statements. + Closing Processes: Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations. + Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to accounting standards and regulations, including tax filings and quarterly preparation. + Cost Accounting: Monitor and enhance manufacturing cost accounting processes to improve operational efficiency. + Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the retail and e-commerce teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals. + Systems Management: Leverage Microsoft Office tools and (if experienced) Microsoft Business Central to streamline accounting workflows. + Internal Controls: Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to bolster internal controls. + Strategic Insight: Provide actionable financial insights to guide leadership in strategic decision-making and business growth. Ideal Candidate Profile: + Proven financial leadership expertise, particularly within manufacturing and/or retail sectors. + Strong organizational, analytical, and team management skills. + Proficiency in relevant accounting tools and processes, including the ability to leverage technology to optimize workflows. + Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic setting while maintaining attention to detail. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. • CPA certification is strongly preferred. • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years leading a team of 5 or more. • Prior experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager is highly desired. • Background in retail or manufacturing industries is a plus. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential; familiarity with D365 is advantageous. • Strong expertise in financial statement preparation, month-end/year-end closings, and journal entries. • Knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting and retail e-commerce financial practices.
