Duty Engineer

A Duty Engineer will support the Engineering Team to efficiently maintain all hotel operations such that safety, security, conversation, and compliance are ensured at the highest levels.

What will I be doing?
 

As a Duty Engineer, you will support the Engineering Team to ensure that engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, including general property maintenance energy conservation, are working properly and to standard. You are also responsible for the development of the Engineering Team and staying abreast of compliance regulations and procedures in the field of Engineering, as required for hotel standards. Specifically, a Duty Engineer will perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

·        Mainly responsible for any electrical task that is given to which falls within the remit of multi Skills and must carry out the works in a professional manner.

·          Responsible for his safety and the safety of others by the manner in which he performs his duties.

·             To carry out his duties on a shift as laid down by the Chief Engineer.

·           Responsibility of smooth running of Guestroom, Function / Meeting Rooms, Ballroom, all Plant Rooms electrical works, whilst on Duty.

-          Follow up on work from previous shift.

-          Check the Duty Engineer Log Book at the start of every shift & and action any engineering problems.

-          Ensure that all work has been completed during his shift but handing over longer term work to the oncoming shift and report to next Supervisor in Line, until task is completed the Duty Engineer own the task.

-          Fully competent in the use of all hand tools and portable test equipment.

-           Ensure that all work carried out is logged before the end of his shift including times.

-          He is to ensure a full working knowledge of all systems within the hotel that fall under his responsibility.

-          Covering shifts personnel’s sickness, on a rota basis.

-          Serving as active member of the Hotels emergency team.

-           Responsible for the testing and correct operation of the hotels:

ü  Fire Alarm Panel / System

ü  Sprinkler System

ü  Emergency Lights

ü  Diesel Generator CAT & Cummins

ü  Fire Pumps

-          Responsibility for the correct operation of the hotels fire alarm system updating the log sheets within a min of 3 times per shift.

BSc Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering3 years hands on Experience in similar position and experience in hotel industry is preferableMust be a Certified ElectricianA passion for delivering great customer serviceAbility to work without close supervision and within established timeframes
