As the Reliable Onsite Services Driver Safety Specialist, you will support the ROS Region and as directed by the Region Safety Manager (RSM), by focusing on safety compliance for ROS’ extensive driver employee population. The ROS Safety Specialist will assist and support the RSM in ensuring compliance with Company and governmental health, safety, and environmental regulations, including the administration of safety policies, programs, and training for the Region. Primary regulatory responsibilities are focused on Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company requirements, with an emphasis on overall motor vehicle incident reduction.
What you'll do:
Responsible for driving reduction in preventable motor vehicle accidents through establishing, promoting, monitoring and auditing Driver Best Practices.
Manages vehicle dash camera, Geotab and other vehicle related technology. Responsibilities include supporting vehicle technology rollout and system monitoring and auditing, including training assignments and other related activities.
Conducts and supports motor vehicle incident investigations working with and at the direction of Risk as appropriate, to identify causes and applicable corrective action, programs, policies, etc.
Meets safety and environmental health goals by developing and implementing training programs consistent with governmental regulations, business, and customer needs.
Monitors and manages safety-related training compliance, including Drive Start and Driver Safety Seminar, and other safety-related training.
Supports the business in ensuring safety compliance in OSHA, DOT, and other compliance-related activities.
Works with Human Resources (HR) and Safety team to monitor and ensure accuracy and compliance of DOT Driver Qualification files, Company MVR Monitoring requirements, No-drive Agreements, and the like.
Mitigates risk exposure by identifying sources of safety and environmental risk and developing needed programs, policies, and procedures for ROS-specific activities.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in Safety and/or Health, or related field
1-3 years of professional safety-related experience, with expertise in Driver Safety, DOT, and best practices
Effective and persuasive communication ability at all levels within the Company
Highly organized with excellent project management skills
Strong training and presentation skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other operations applications
Ability to support and work with a large (500+) DOT-regulated driver population spread across 100+ different geographic locations
Current in all areas of DOT and other Driver related safety laws and best practices; OSHA and ANSI including, but not limited to, CFR 1910 and 1926 as well as legislation affecting these areas
Maintain currency in all areas of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as they relate to the rental industry
Knowledge on safe operation of DOT-regulated vehicles
Understanding of mechanical aspects required for drivers
Occupational Health safety and/or accredited professional certification preferred
CDL preferred
