Come work as a Driver with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

 

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of others? Do you have experience or a desire to work with individuals with disabilities? This unique position involves working closely with recreation therapy staff across Vancouver Long Term Care Homes to help older adults access their community for meaningful leisure opportunities. This will include facilitating scenic drives and outings that involve getting on and off the bus such as attending: Parks, Beaches, VanDusen Gardens, shopping plazas etc. Role entails working closely with multiple LTC homes across Vancouver on a shared bus schedule, escorting residents to/ from the bus, helping residents get on/ off the bus, facilitating wheelchair tie-downs, and bus safety (e.g pre/ post trip inspection). 

 

As a Driver with VCH you will:

Provide transportation services to and from various locations for all clients of the Centre as scheduled, assist in embarking and disembarking passengers, porter clients to their scheduled appointments within various hospital sites as necessary, and transport a variety of supplies and/or materials to and from delivery locations for various departments. Qualifications

Education & Experience

Grade 10 plus two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Valid Class 4 vehicle license (unrestricted) required.

Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment. Closing Statement

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
