Job Background & Summary:

We at Actalent Services are a fast-growing engineering consulting group which expanded to Canada in 2014. A significant part of that growth has come out of our Western Canadian Operations with a focus in Infrastructure and Utilities. To support this growth, we have opened a position for Drafter/Designer (Designer I) to join our team on a full-time basis. The selected individual will be a part of our Utilities Division based out of New Westminster, BC.

The Designer I will prepare technical drawings for internal and external clients. Key activities include liaising with internal and external stakeholders, coordinating drafting deliverables and developing and implementing procedures for the efficient delivery of technical drawings. The ideal candidate for this position should be willing to cross-train in other disciplines and areas.

This is a full-time position and under a Hybrid working model (3 days in office / 2 days from home)

The role will be based out of our New Westminster, BC office.

Successfully passing Drug & Alcohol Screening is a requirement for this role.

Job Requirements:

Electrical or Civil Engineering Diploma or Drafting Certification.Proficient in AutoCAD 2D.Proficient using MS Office applications.

Any of the below experience will be considered an asset for the role:

1 year of electrical/civil/structural (with preference to electrical) AutoCAD 2D drafting experience.Experience on power utility projects is an asset.Experience with BC Hydro and FortisBC standards will be considered an asset.Experience with MicroStation 2D, AutoCAD 3D and Autodesk Inventor will be considered an asset.Previous experience in project administration and SAP.

Job Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of complex drafting related to electrical/civil/structural engineering design across multiple clients and engineering projectsReview’s drawings prepared by other drafters, departments, manufacturers, contractors and consultants to ensure accuracy and compatibility of dimensions, details and adherence to standards and design parameters.Responsible for the overall quality of drafting work through the checking and review of work to ensure sketches are accurately drafted and internal and external client drafting standards and procedures are adhered to.Perform document control by tracking client documents and drawings, submitting IFR and IFC packages transmittal, and requesting project documents from clients.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
