Description: 

Guides pregnant person/family through the birthing process to provide emotional, physical and informational support. Works with the family at the hospital during the labor & birth process and postpartum. Administers care to designated patients and provides support to the care team under the direction of the clinical nurse. Serves as a liaison between clinical, medical staff and underserved patients and/or families. Assures care of patients and families is reflective of IU Health's values.

Part-Time, 24 hours per week (3, 8 hour shifts)Night Shift; 5:00pm -1:30amOrientation is approximately 8 weeks; the first 4-6 weeks will be on day shift, then the last 2-4 weeks will be on night shift Requires weekend and holiday rotation

 

High School Diploma/GED is required.Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.Requires knowledge and cultural understanding of target communities.Requires high level of oral and written fluency in English and target languages.May provide support to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients, families, and medical staff providing care.May require Medical Interpreter Certification when applicable.Preferred Birth Doula Certification from accredited organizations. DONA (Doula Organization of North America) certification required within 24 months of hire date, with IU Health assistance.Preferred CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) certification or completion of certification within 12 months of hire date.
