Documentation and Coding Consultant
**Job Description** **Faculty Practice Plan Services - Coding and Charge Capture** has an outstanding opportunity for a **Documentation and Coding Consultant.** **Work Schedule** + 100% Full Time + Monday - Friday **POSITION HIGHLIGHTS** The Documentation and Coding Consultant is responsible for performing daily activities related to working in a consultative capacity to identify opportunities for complete and accurate documentation and coding, in strong partnership with CCC staff and leadership, UWP Compliance, and UWP FPPS Physician Services team. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** + Provide expert consultation to FPPS clinicians as assigned on coding and documentation education and questions. Review and verify component parts of the medical records, retrospectively, to ensure the accuracy of documentation and coding, including but not limited to CMS coding rules and guidelines. + Provide virtual and/or face-to-face training to clinicians or coders as requested/required regarding documentation of services and appropriate coding of level of service, diagnoses, and procedures; including tips and techniques to help clinicians work more efficiently in the electronic medical record (EMR). Carefully analyzing and choosing educational presentation training points to ensure training is relevant and meets clinician or coders needs appropriately to improve or maintain complete and accurate documentation and code selection, consistently. + Perform periodic quality reviews of documentation and coding. Analyzing results, vetting findings with stakeholders and coding teams, and providing summary feedback to individual clinicians and/or coding teams, making recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with CCC team members when code assignment is not straightforward, or documentation is inadequate, ambiguous, or unclear for coding purposes, utilizing departmental resources and processes. + Responds to or clarifies internal requests for coding information from clinicians and business and operational partners. **REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information, Business, Healthcare or related field + Four years coding experience or equivalent education/experience. + Two years of experience as an instructor/trainer. + Certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), + Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC). + Equivalent experience/education may be considered **Compensation, Benefits and Position Details** **Pay Range Minimum:** $79,704.00 annual **Pay Range Maximum:** $119,544.00 annual **Other Compensation:** - **Benefits:** For information about benefits for this position, visit https://www.washington.edu/jobs/benefits-for-uw-staff/ **Shift:** First Shift (United States of America) **Temporary or Regular?** This is a regular position **FTE (Full-Time Equivalent):** 100.00% **About the UW** Working at the University of Washington provides a unique opportunity to change lives – on our campuses, in our state and around the world.
