Document Destruction Technician
**Description** We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented **Document Destruction Technician** who is responsible for the secure handling, tracking, and destruction of classified and sensitive documents and materials in accordance with government and company regulations. This role ensures the integrity of destruction operations through meticulous recordkeeping, equipment operation, and compliance with chain-of-custody protocols. The position also supports material control functions and collaborates with security and facility personnel to ensure the secure management of sensitive materials. **Primary Responsibilities** : + Receive, verify, log, and track classified and sensitive materials scheduled for destruction. + Operate specialized destruction equipment (e.g., shredders, disintegrators) per agency-approved methods and standards. + Maintain accurate **chain-of-custody records** and destruction logs to ensure full accountability. + Follow and enforce **destruction schedules** , **internal controls** , and **safety protocols** . + Support **audits** , **security inspections** , and **material control reviews** related to destruction activities. + Safely store and transport materials within **restricted areas** or **SCIFs (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities)** . + Coordinate with **Facility Security Officers (FSOs)** , **Material Managers** , and **Security Representatives** to maintain compliance and resolve issues. + Train and mentor new personnel on proper procedures for secure material handling and destruction. + Assist with material control tasks such as **inventory reconciliation** , **packaging** , **labeling** , and **classified media disposition** . **Basic Qualifications** + TS/SCI w/Poly clearance is required. + High school diploma or equivalent. + 2–4 years of relevant experience in materials management, warehousing, or production planning. + Working knowledge of: + Materials Management and Warehousing Operations + Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems + Inventory control practices and material movement procedures + Ability to interpret engineering specifications and production schedules to determine raw material needs. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Effective communication skills for coordination within teams and across departments. + Ability to work independently under limited supervision and solve moderately complex problems. **Preferred Qualifications** + Associate degree or vocational training in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. + Proficiency with Materials Management Systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). + Experience in material selection based on performance, cost, and production requirements. + Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment. + Familiarity with lean inventory or just-in-time (JIT) practices. + Basic understanding of safety and regulatory standards in warehouse environments.
