Job Summary:
The Dockworker primarily works in the outside dock area of the AmeriGas facility. The employee is responsible for unloading empty propane cylinders from the truck(s), carrying them inside the dock area to the refill station, and refilling the cylinders. The filled cylinders are then moved back to the dock and reloaded onto the truck(s) for the next day’s delivery. Other duties may include cylinder repair and maintenance, providing customer training on dispensing propane, and handling refills for walk-in customers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to climb steps/ladders, walk 1-5 miles and carry multiple propane cylinders weighing up to 75 lbs each
• Lifting, pushing, pulling, bending and climbing in and out of the truck
Education and Experience Required:
• 1 - 2 years’ work experience in manufacturing is preferred
• High School Diploma or GED

• Help Delivery Representatives unload empty tanks from the trucks and carry the tanks to the refill station.
• Refill empty cylinders.
• Load filled cylinders onto the truck(s) for the next day’s delivery route.
• Repair cylinders, including such activities as replacing valves, bleeders, liquid level gauges, and O-rings.
• Serve all walk-in customers per day with tank refills and repairs
• Operate the forklift to move large tanks and storage cages around the yard and load onto trucks.
• Remove rust on tanks and repaint them.
• Help with service work.
• Provide dispenser training at customer sites that refill gas grill tanks.
• Required federal, state and local licenses/permits/certifications for work being performed.
• Knowledge of propane along with the safe operation in filling and storage operations.
• Within first six months in the position, incumbent must meet training and certification requirements for the position
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, contractors, customers, and the general public
• Ability to climb steps/ladders, walk 1-5 miles and carry multiple propane cylinders weighing up to 75 lbs each
• At least 18 years old
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

The pay for this position ranges from $17.00 to $18.00, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include eligibility to earn a performance-based bonus or commissions on completed sales depending on position.
