This is an in-office job located in Hyderabad, India. The “DLS Clinical Consultant”, serves as a clinical resource assisting the case managers, providing clinical recommendations and co-management activities on STD and Accommodation claims. The expectation is to review clinical information and provide recommendations regarding associates functional capacity/impairment and their ability to perform the essential functions of their job. Through an advocacy approach, the DLS Clinical Consultant facilitates and partners with case management team for effective and timely decisions and coordinates a return-to-work plan through a high-touch approach to ensure a positive customer experience.
The DLS Clinical Consultant are expected to have a strong clinical knowledge, understanding of ICD-10, diagnostic codes, understand how medical conditions impact functionality impairment and capacity and how it impacts the essential job functions of the employees at Amazon (Ability to apply clinical knowledge for absence management). In this role you will have the ability to effectively leverage upon your clinical expertise and translate this expertise into recommendations that will assist Amazon and impacted employees in successfully returning to work. The DLS Clinical Consultant needs to have the ability to balance clinical facts, use critical clinical judgement and alongside demonstrate high level of compassion and empathy for the claimants.
Basic qualifications Required for this role:
Registered Nurse (RN) license and
3+ years clinical work experience in clinical setting.
Preferred qualifications
● Prior experience in occupational health, worker compensation disability or health case management.
● Experience in disability management industry managing STD or LTD claims. - ● Understanding of regulations under FMLA, ADAAA, EEOC and OFCCP and various state and local leave of absence laws.
● Utilization Review experience and/or experience using specific clinical criteria or protocols.
● Good written and verbal communication skills
● Certification with CCM or CDMS
Key job responsibilities
● Provide case evaluations and clinical case management services across the DLS organization.
● Conduct disability case file reviews, provider outreaches and provie guidance to case managers.
● Serve as a clinical subject matter expert to disability and leave case managers and provide clinical analyses related to functional impairment and work capacity.
● Conduct clinical analyses focusing on functional impairment and work capacity assessment
● Assist case managers with clinical recommendation, interpreting medical documents and guidance for complex case.
● In partnership with case managers, co-manage cases to optimize case management process and proactively impact optimal case outcomes.
● Perform provider and or employee interviews and analyze clinical documentation
● Develop and negotiate return-to-work plans with stakeholders
● Partner with case managers to optimize case management processes and outcomes
● Ability to exercise sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills and execute position responsibilities with minimal guidance.
● Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare providers at all levels
● Communicate effectively with Amazon internal and external partners
● Assists in the development of clinical tools, templates, processes, and protocols under the direction of the Clinical leader.
● Travel up to 10% domestic and/or international.
