Responsibilities
The Education Supervisor oversees the design, delivery, and evaluation of training programs. This role combines technical expertise, people leadership, and quality oversight of education, ensuring staff competency, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across pre-analytic operations. This position will support all areas of operations including: Dock, Accessioning, Liquid Handling, Specimen Distribution, Mayo Lab Inquiry, Inventory, and Global Logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor Education Coordinators, Education Specialists, and/or Education Training AssistantsDevelop and maintain standardized training curricula for:Specimen accessioning, labeling, handling, transport, and storageLab referral platforms and new systemsSpecimen rejection criteria and error preventionEnsure training programs meet CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and internal quality standardsSupport the build out of Quality SOPsPartner with leadership, quality, and operations to identify training gaps and performance trendsLead onboarding programs for new hires and role transitionsCreate leadership development programs that help retain staff at every level of the organizationOversee competency assessments, annual re-competencies, and remediation plansWork with Quality to analyze pre-analytic error data and implement targeted education interventionsSupport change management for new tests, equipment, workflows, or regulatory updatesParticipate in audits, inspections, and corrective action planning related to trainingMaintain education documentation and training recordsAdapt training methods (“thinking outside the box”) to modern needs rather than historical practicesReinforce consistency across work units to avoid customized, non‑standard education processesEnsure core training materials and information are provided with adequate lead time pre–go‑liveOptimize Scheduling to Support Training

Qualifications
In the non-testing laboratories (Laboratory Services, Central Processing, Microbiology Initial Processing, Preparation and Processing, Autotransfusion, IMPACT, Hematopathology Support Lab, Operational Support Unit, MML Operations, and Donor Services) and Histopathology laboratories: Bachelor's degree, preferably in CLS/MLS/MT, management/business, sciences or a health-related field and four years of laboratory or management experience.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
Must have demonstrated leadership, communication (oral and written) and problem solving ability. Must be highly organized, efficient, and able to work independently. Requires human relations skills to influence and motivate others.
