Divisional Automation Manager
About the role Coordinate the implementation of automation/mechanization projects for the production lines of the Chihuahua plants and significantly reduce product costs, increase quality levels while ensuring compliance with established schedules and budgets. Using state-of-the-art technology including Industry 5.0 systems. Defining strategic approaches and leading to automation efforts from ideation to implementation, aiming to enhance existing production lines and support new product development initiatives. Also, has the responsibility of budgeting and developing relationships with suppliers to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement of necessary equipment and materials. This position is critical to ensuring efficiency, reliability, and continuous improvement of our manufacturing processes. Responsibilities Authorities and Responsibilities. Exercise and perform all duties within their responsibilities. Make proposals on changes, improve projects, and work plans within their scope of responsibilities Main functions: Coordinate the activities of a divisional automation team to ensure standardization of machinery and systems in the Chihuahua plants. Optimize the activities of the divisional automation team members. Propose and coordinate for each project an optimal mix of activities with internal resources and suppliers. Coordinate automation/mechanization projects of production lines, from concept/design to commissioning in the manufacturing plant. Ensure proper documentation for operation and maintenance of implemented machines and systems. Audit and certify suppliers/integrators of automation projects in North America and overseas. In coordination with manufacturing plants, create RFQ's for automation projects to quote with different supplier options. Coordinate with Purchasing and Finance departments on payment terms, warranties and other Leviton legal conditions that suppliers must meet. Specify equipment/brands to be used in automation projects. Coordinate validation pilot runs with suppliers and approvals required for equipment commissioning. Define strategic approaches and manage the design, development, and implementation of automation systems to enhance production efficiency and reduce operational costs. This includes leading automation efforts from ideation to implementation, aiming to improve existing production lines and support new product development initiatives. Collaborate with the plant Maintenance departments to oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of automated equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. Supervise and mentor a team of automation engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement solutions to improve productivity and quality. Ensure all automation systems comply with industry standards and safety regulations. Develop and manage budgets for automation projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions. Collaborate with Sourcing and Supplier Quality to work with external vendors and suppliers to source and integrate new technologies. Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project status, performance metrics, and areas for improvement. Ensure that all projects and tasks are completed within the established timelines, maintaining accountability for meeting deadlines. Additional responsibilities: Ensure follow-up on Divisional work plans and programs. Monitor and follow up on improvements and projects within the Division. Maintain a positive work environment and comply with the stipulations of the RIT. Fulfill and enforce the 5'S+1 program. Support and promote Corporate Social Responsibility programs. Qualifications Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA systems, robotics, and other automation technologies. Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successful project delivery. Excellent leadership and team management skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Fluent English/Spanish with effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Must be fit in workplace conditions, wear E.P.P such as shoes, safety glasses and have access to Share Point, Oracle, Outlook system screens.
