This high-impact, highly visible role within the Department of Internal Medicine provides full administrative and financial oversight of two of the largest and most complex divisions within the School of Medicine, comprising nearly 200 faculty, advanced practice clinicians (APCs), and staff. This position reports directly to the Division Chiefs for Medical Oncology and Hematology and has functional reporting to the Department’s Senior Administrative Director. In this role, the Division Administrator will lead strategic planning, financial management, operational execution, and cross-functional coordination of the clinical, research, and educational missions. This role also serves as a key liaison with the Huntsman Cancer Institute and other institutional partners to ensure alignment, continuity, and innovation in cancer and hematologic care. This is a dynamic leadership opportunity requiring technical proficiency in healthcare operations, organizational management, financial management, and academic administration, along with exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills. Success in this position requires a high level of proficiency in budgeting and data analysis, along with strong relationship management skills to navigate a dynamic, fast-paced academic medical environment. **About the Divisions** The combined Divisions of Hematology & Hematologic Malignancies and Medical Oncology include 74 faculty members, 70 advanced practice clinicians, and 13 staff. Together, they lead robust clinical, research, and education programs that serve patients across the region and contribute significantly to the Department of Internal Medicine’s mission. **Responsibilities** **Key Responsibilities** **Strategic & Operational Leadership** + Ability to network and forge strong cross-functional relationships with stakeholders across the organization, including physicians, department and division leadership, hospital leadership, and other key stakeholders. + Dynamic and resilient leader able to rapidly adjust to change and evolving priorities. + Strategic thinker/planner able to add value to an organization that is beyond the accomplishment of day-to-day tasks. + Lead and integrate strategic initiatives across both divisions. + Represent divisions on departmental and institutional committees. + Partner with Huntsman Cancer Institute leadership to drive mission alignment. + Oversee restructuring efforts to streamline workflows and optimize administrative staffing. + Develop a sustainable administrative model, including an Associate Director and reallocation of junior administrative roles. **Financial Management** + Develop and manage short- and long-term budgets across clinical, research, and educational domains. + Conduct complex financial analyses and ensure billing compliance. + Present monthly financial performance and forecast reports. **Clinical Program Oversight** + Administer and expand clinical programs across oncology and hematology subspecialties. + Utilize performance analytics to evaluate program effectiveness and drive innovation in care delivery while expanding patient access. + Direct the integrated clinical enterprise to meet patient care, financial, and academic benchmarks. **Research Administration** + Collaborate with HCI and Department grant management professionals, including support of grant effort allocation and spending. + Support research development and collaboration across institutional entities. **Educational Support** + Support educational programs, including residency and fellowship training. + Ensure compliance with GME and institutional guidelines. + Collaborate with faculty to enhance curriculum and training outcomes. **Human Resources & Organizational Development** + Lead and grow a team of experienced administrative professionals that include administrative and executive assistants, a financial management analyst, associate director, and others. + Lead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for faculty and staff. + Provide performance feedback and coaching to faculty and staff. + Identify scalable solutions to support a growing workforce. **Policy & Compliance** + Develop, monitor and interpret policies to ensure regulatory and institutional compliance. + Monitor adherence to federal, state, and university regulations. **Patient Experience** + Analyze patient feedback and implement service improvements. + Foster a culture of excellence in patient-centered care. Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead. **Minimum Qualifications** Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communications skills required.
