Job Description
This is a contract-to-direct position requiring daily reporting to the Grand Rapids office. The individual will be responsible for conducting field inspections of overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment to compile field data, prepare minor work orders, and maintain reports of distribution equipment. The role involves measuring and mapping out LVD systems, identifying and recording electrical equipment on poles, and performing various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.
ResponsibilitiesVisually inspect overhead and underground electrical distribution equipment.Compile field data collection, minor work order preparation, and maintenance reports.Measure and map LVD systems.Identify and record electrical equipment on poles.Perform system inventories and audits, joint use management and permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, lighting audits, etc.Collect field data using laptop computer, tablet device, GPS, and other electronic devices.Develop working knowledge of National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), electric utility construction standards, and communication facilities.Operate equipment such as height stick and range finder to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities.Perform pole inspections and maintain pad-mount equipment.Achieve weekly billable goals as defined by project guidelines.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma requiredValid Driver LicenseProficiency in field data collection and analysis.
Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to work with customers, landowners, and clientele to facilitate power utility asset replacements and upgrades.Experience in joint-use make-ready construction.Capability to perform pre-field work, design analysis, and field work effectively.Experience with GPS mapping and data collection.Knowledge of NESC codes.Understanding of utility and distribution lines, overhead systems, and pole analysis.
Work EnvironmentThe position requires daily reporting to the Grand Rapids, MI office 7am/7:30am arrival time. Upon arrival, the technician will be assigned to another team member who will drive them to their work location for the day, paid your hourly rate while in the company truck driving to the site. Most work locations are within an hour of the office.Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
